Toronto, May 20th, 2020 -- In honour of Canada Day 2020, ViVA Trio has assembled an incredible all-Canadian cast of talent to perform “O Canada” virtually. Each amazing artist recorded a video of themselves singing the anthem and ViVA Trio’s Katya Tchoubar edited and produced the mp3 and music video. In a montage of some of Canada’s top-tier talent, this video embodies Canada’s music scene, with a diverse set of instrumentalists and singers of all genres and voice types! This collaboration honours the spirit of Canada Day, and creates a sense of community, whilst the COVID-19 pandemic keeps Canadians at home.
This smorgasbord of singers includes ViVA Trio’s sopranos Anna Bateman & Katya Tchoubar and mezzo-soprano Erin Fisher, baritones Gavin Hope & Russell Braun, tenors Mark Masari & Graham Scott Fleming, and female pop vocalist Rachel Luttrell. The instrumentalists include pianist Mark Camilleri and violinist Vasil Popadiuk.
This illustrious line up of guest performers will not disappoint:
VOCALISTS:
Gavin Hope, three-time JUNO Nominee, as a solo vocalist and as a member of the iconic a cappella group, The Nylons. Hope recorded 6 studio albums with The Nylons, and 2 successful solo albums, which charted Top 40 nationally.
Russell Braun, MET Opera regular, this operatic baritone was recently appointed Officer of the Order of Canada. Braun has recorded JUNO Award winning & Nominated albums & GRAMMY nominated for Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde.
Mark Masari, two-time JUNO Nominee, with 7 albums to his credit, international tenor Mark Masari has toured the world singing, most notably for David Foster’s, Hitman Returns Television Special.
Graham Scott Fleming, international singer and actor, Fleming has headlined the New York Musical Theatre Festival, played Charlie Price in Kinky Boots internationally & won ‘The North of Nashville Star’ Competition.
ViVA Trio, international vocal group with multiple standing ovations from audiences in Europe, the USA & Canada. Their debut album “Nothing Else Matters” features live orchestra, a children’s choir and original music.
Anna Bateman, this soprano has spent many summers singing in Europe as a solo opera singer. Bateman has numerous operatic and theatre roles to her credit, and performs regularly with symphonies as a soloist.
Erin Fisher, a mezzo-soprano who graced Toronto’s Four Seasons Centre stage as a soloist at the age of 22. Fisher performed as a soloist in Europe, USA & Canada, and sings opera, jazz, musical theatre & pop.
Katya Tchoubar, producer, song-writer, and vocal diction coach, this lyric soprano is unstoppable. A member of the European touring group “Ukrainochka,” Tchoubar released an album of original compositions “Something Classical.”
Rachel Luttrell, accomplished singer & actress, Luttrell starred in the Sci-Fi series Stargate: Atlantis, and has graced broadway stages nationally and internationally, and has released her first CD "I Wish You Love."
INSTRUMENTALISTS:
Mark Camilleri, music director, pianist, arranger, producer and conductor. Camilleri has shared the stage with Il Divo, Celine Dion, Sting, Andrea Bocelli, Paul Anka, Sarah McLachlan, David Foster, Sheryl Crow & Eric Clapton.
Vasil Popadiuk, international violinist, Popadiuk has toured with many prestigious European troupes, performing for King Hussein of Jordan & Queen Sofia of Spain. He also performed at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics.
ViVA Trio is thrilled to be releasing “O Canada” with these spectacular musicians. “This Canada Day will be one that we all remember forever, for numerous reasons. We hope our version of the anthem will lift people’s spirits, and overflow with Canadian pride,” Erin notes. “Regardless of the situation, we want to kick off this Canada Day with a bang! Incredible Canadian talents all coming together! This is fantastic!” Katya remarks enthusiastically. Anna Bateman also adds, “We are connected to each of these wonderful performers, and hope that this anthem creates the feeling of community that we have within this group of artists.”
ViVA Trio is releasing their collaborative version of “O Canada” in celebration of Canada’s 153rd birthday and will debut at a virtual concert the trio is hosting with all the guest artists featured in the anthem: LIVE Canada Day Celebration Concert with ViVA Trio & Special Guests on Thursday, June 25th at 8 pm EST, streaming live to YouTube and Twitch.
